Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is definitely a game which every PlayStation 4 user must own. The game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment was released on May 10 this year. The third-person action adventure shooter is the sequel to 2011 release Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and the fourth major entry to the Uncharted series.

The players of Uncharted 4 need to take control of the protagonist Nathan Drake to set out for a new trail along with his brother Samuel Drake. Nathan aka Nate has the ability to jump, swim and climb around in the game accompanied by a variety of acrobatic skills.

Different types of pistols, grenades and rifles are also accessible to the protagonist in the game to kill enemies. Nathan can also take control of any vehicles he wants directly in the game.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was one of the most anticipated games of 2016 after its successful unveiling at 2014 E3. The game has received both commercial and critical success upon its release.

Another game that every PlayStation 4 user must play is Bloodborne. The action RPG developed by From Software and published by Sony Computer Entertainment was released in March 2015. The third-person game is set in the fictional city of Yharnam which has been threatened by an abnormal blood-borne disease.

The elements of Bloodborne are inspired by those of the Soul’s series, mainly Demon’s Soulsand Dark Souls. The players of the game need to play as the protagonist, Hunter, who sets out in search of a thing called ‘Paleblood’ for some unknown reason.

While progressing through the game, the players need to fight numerous weapon based battles and boss fights. The weapons primarily used in the game are swords and firearms. Bloodborne also allows the players to explore a lot of places and interact with other characters of the game.

Bloodborne is a highly successful commercial game apart from being a critically acclaimed one. The game was praised because it has a great story with a horror influence, fast paced combat and a unique weapon customization feature.

Several others also liked the game’s unique enemy design, beautiful soundtrack, fluent controls and amazing boss-battles. The game received an impressive score of 92 on Metacritic out of 100, with Edge, Game Informer and EGM giving rating points of 10, 9.75 and 9.5 respectively.

The Last of Us: Remastered is the next game to feature in this list. The game is a remastered version of the original title The Last of Us which was released in 2013 as an PlayStation 3 exclusive. The Last of Us: Remastered , developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, was ported in to PlayStation 4 in 2014.

The Last of Us: Remastered has a few additions regarding gameplay and received an enhanced graphics and frame-rate due to an upgraded combat mechanic when compared to the original game.

The game’s protagonist, Joel, has been handed a task to escort an young girl named Ellie in a post apocalyptic United States, which was infected by fungus about 20 years ago which wiped out most of the civilization.

The game, like its predecessor, received critical acclaim. People were very impressed with the enhanced graphics, improved frame-rate and additions that were made to the game. According to the critics, the visuals, sound and lighting of the game made the game ‘breath-taking’ and ‘jaw-dropping’.

The game was awarded with scores of perfect 10 by Game Informer, IGN and VideoGamer.com, while GameSpot and Polygon gave 8 rating points out of 10. The Last of Us: Remastered scored an aggregate of 96% and 95 out of 100 in GameRankings and Metacritic aggregates respectively.

4. Ratchet & Clank

Rachet & Clank is one of the most popular PlayStation exclusives of all time. The game was first released in 2002 for PlayStation 2. Since then, the game has been released subsequently in all the PlayStation platforms (PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 4).

 

The most recent release of the game was in April of this year for PlayStation 4. The game has been developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Insomniac Games is also the same developer who developed the original version of the game back in 2002.

The players needs to play the game mainly as Ratchet. However, the players can also play as the other character, Clank, in some portions of the game. Their primary task is to navigate the characters through various environments and defeat enemies using the gadgets and weapons that are provided.

The game received favorable reviews upon its release. Critics even termed the game as ‘addictive’ because of its amazing gameplay. The game was also praised because of its nice story, gorgeous visuals, instinctive controls and creative weapons. The game received an aggregate score of 85 out of 100 in Metacritic.

 

 

5. Infamous: Second Son

The next game to feature in this list is Infamous: Second Son and it is definitely one of the titles that every PlayStation 4 users should own. The game, which was released in March 2014 was developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Sony Computers Entertainment. The open world action adventure game is the third major installment of the Infamous series and is set 7 years after the end of the second installment.

Infamous: Second Son features a new protagonist named Delsin Rowe, who possesses super-power abilities like the previous protagonists of the first two Infamous games. The game is played from a third person perspective where the players climb vertical surface using the protagonist’s parkour skills.

The players also get a chance to play the game either in a good or an evil way, which affects the final outcome. The game is set in a fictionalized Seattle where Delsin fights the Department of Unified Protection (D.U.P.).

Infamous: Second Son was both a commercial as well as a critical success. It was one of the fastest selling games after selling over one million copies in just nine days of its release. The game had great graphics with a nice open world which had perfect lighting. A few critics even said that the simple combats and parkour styles were the reasons behind the game’s success. The game received aggregate scores of 81% and 80 in GameRankings and Metacritic.

The Witness is the final game to feature in this list of ‘6 Games Every PS4 Owner Must Own’. The game, developed and published by Thekla Inc., was released in January this year for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. The Witness is 3D puzzle video game, which is inspired by 1993 Macintosh game Myst.

In The Witness, the player needs to solve puzzles in order to progress. The player actually explores an island which is divided into eleven parts. The ultimate aim of the player is to reach the mountain which is centered between the eleven sections.

Every section of the island has a gold box, which needs to be found by the player. In order to reach the gold box and compete the section, the players will have to solve various puzzles. By completing all the eleven sections likewise, the players can reach their ultimate goal, which is the mountain.

The Witness received critical acclamation upon its release. The game was praised because of its cleverly designed puzzles and mysteries. A lot of players were also happy with the game because it provided them with a lot of ‘eureka’ moments.

The PlayStation 4 version of the game received an impressive aggregate score of 87 in Metacritic. The game was awarded perfect 10 by each of IGN, Destruction and VideoGamer.com.
