Apple adds new channels to Apple TV universal/Siri search

Apple’s universal search feature for the Apple TV today gains new supported channels allowing users to search for content within the apps directly from the Apple TV’s main search function and Siri.

Today’s update adds support for A&E, History, Lifetime, Cooking Channel, DIY, Food Network, Travel Channel FYI, and HGTV.

Apple has been regularly adding new channels to support the feature since it first launched on the latest fourth-generation Apple TV. The latest addition earlier this month added support for Bravo, E!, SyFy, and USA channels.

Apple’s full list of supported channels for the feature is on its website. The feature is currently mostly limited to users in the United States with only support for movies and TV shows from iTunes and Netflix in Australia, Canada, France, Germany ,and United Kingdom.

Earlier this month the company unveiled the latest for its Apple TV platform, tvOS 10, at its WWDC 2016 developer conference alongside iOS 10, macOS Sierra, and watchOS 3 for Apple Watch. Highlights for the tvOS 10 release, which we noted in our hands-on video this week, include a new dark mode on Apple TV, YouTube Siri search, HomeKit, & more
