Apple and NASA made a short film ‘Visions of Harmony’ celebrating Juno Mission

Apple today has announced that it is partnering with NASA to produce a short film to celebrate the Juno spacecraft reading Jupiter’s orbit. The film is available on iTunes and Apple Music for free and is called “Visions of Harmony.”

To go along with the short film, Apple has created a new featured section on Apple Music called “Destination: Jupiter” that highlights the short film as well as the exclusive music that appears in it. Included in the film is music by Apple Music executive Trent Reznor, as well as tracks by Corinne Bailey Rae, and Quin.

The short film itself comes in at roughly 9 minutes long and includes an interview with Juno principal investigator Scott Bolton, as well as live performances from Corrine Bailey Rae, Quin, and others.

For those that haven’t been following the journey of Juno, the spacecraft was first deployed by NASA in 2011 and will reach its destination of Jupiter’s orbit on July 4th. The goal of the mission is to have Juno collect images and data that will help NASA learn more about Jupiter and how it relates to Earth’s origins.

Apple explains that the goal of its partnership with NASA is to educate and inspire people, while to also show the link between exploring space and making music.

Apple is collaborating with NASA and team Juno to provide education and inspiration throughout the historic journey. Apple encourages users to check back for updates charing Juno’s progress, implying that this Destination: Jupiter featured section will be update over the next few days as Juno reaches Jupiter.

Speaking to USA Today, Apple and NASA said that there is no monetary agreement between the two parties, just an agreement to work together. “The goal is to make science and technology more accessible and relatable to everyone,” said Apple vice-president Robert Kondrk.

Earlier this month, NASA released an application for the fourth-gen Apple TV. The app includes live streaming NASA TV, a real-time view of the Earth from the International Space Station, as well as on-demand access to over 10,000 NASA videos and more than 15,000 photos, either individually or as a slideshow.
