Leak claims that Xiaomi smartwatch may arrive this week

Xiaomi already sells an impressively cheap fitness tracker with its Mi Band 2, but the company’s long-rumored smartwatch is still a mystery. Now a new leak claims the device could make its debut at an event in China later this week.

The company will allegedly unveil its first smartwatch on August 25, according to reports spotted by GizChina on Chinese social network Weibo. The wearable device will allegedly offer new fitness tracking features beyond what the latest Mi Band is capable of. However, it could also come at a pretty steep price compared to Xiaomi’s current budget-friendly lineup.

The leaks also include a quick sketch of the device, revealing what looks like a circular display and a pair of physical buttons on the right side. Based on earlier reports, we’re expecting Xiaomi’s smartwatch to feature a brushed metal design that could contribute to the high price tag.
