“Prey for the Gods” raises $300,000 Kickstarter goal

It’s been a while since Kickstarter ran a pair of successful high-profile campaigns, but between Prey for the Gods and System Shock, the website is rocking like it’s the good old days. Maybe not as high profile as Shenmue 3, but at least it’s something.

Prey for the Gods has proven to be popular because of how much it resembles the PlayStation 2 classic Shadow of the Colossus. No Matter Studios has succeeded in gathering $300,000 for the game, and with the success came the surprise announcement of a console release. The game will be coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as to the PC.

The game was originally pitched as a basic experience with a few boss fights, and that alone required $300,000 in funding. The team plans to expand the product based on the success of the PC release. I wonder if the console releases will shadow the PC’s trickle of content or if they will wait for the final product.

Questions remain, but with nine days left to go, we’ll call this one a success. We can’t wait to give it a spin.
